Baby's World...A Handmade Nursery

This is my baby...not so much a baby anymore, but he is the youngest.

This is my baby...His Blue Eyes Make Me Smile!

When the other two were born, we hadn't yet added on to our house. No. 1 & 2 shared a 10x10 room with a 3x3 closet. For any mother reading this, you know how much stuff accompanies a child. Fitting two in that space was difficult at best.

We had already planned on our addition when we found out were expecting blessing #3. I had planned to make the new room for the older two, but size dictated that wasn't the best fit. So the little one got the new room.

I chose the colors before I knew if he was going to be a he...or a she. I had some fabric I purchased from a discount store and I pulled the colors from there. I was going to use them as curtains but went another way.  I am still very much in love with the color choices.

No. 3's  room has been slowly evolving for two years. I still have more I want to do. Prints I want to make and pictures I want to frame.

But here it is. It's not fancy, but it is full of love. And after all, isn't that the most important thing?

I hope to get more finishing touches done soon. But until then, I will enjoy what I have been able to do and what the Lord has blessed us with.

Gardening On The Brain

Whenever the weather turns a little warm, I start to think about gardening. I am not an experienced gardener by any means. I have 2 years of experience under my belt. Two summers ago, I started experimenting with Square Foot Gardening. I had one 4x4 raised bed. Being my first try, I started small. It wasn't extremely successful, but it helped me get my feet wet. Last summer we dug 4 4x4 plots. I had tomatoes and cucumbers galore. I also planted lettuce, onions, herbs, sweet peas, beans, and beautiful soft green zinnias. I loved taking my basket out in the evening and gathering what I needed to fix supper or make a fresh salad. There is something special about growing your own food.

I am already thinking of what I would like to do differently. How I want to steak my tomatoes and what kind of cutting flowers I want.

In preparation for gardening, I have been looking at seed catalogs, gardening magazines, Pinterest, old issues of BH&G. One day last summer, while doing a search for kitchen gardens, I came across this beautiful garden. This would be my dream garden. I love everything about it.
